This project addresses the issue of managing a rapidly expanding ITS system in order to properly implement it, demonstrate results, provide efficient, effective presentations to management, and make information-based decisions.
In 2013, the Illinois Tollway ITS team initiated the TIMS Integrated Performance System or TIPS because ITS expansion for the Illinois Tollway is occurring at a rapid rate. With this level of ITS investment, it was recognized that measurements are required to answer major information needs.
