Freeway Management System - Traffic Management Center

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) recently expanded and modernized its entire Freeway Management System, operating from a centralized location at ODOT headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. A Statewide Traffic Management Center (TMC) was constructed in October 2010. ODOT transferred TMC functions for the city of Columbus from its district office to the statewide system in 2011, adding 65 cameras and 15 message boards to Central Office control.

TravelMidwest.com - Serving the Needs of the Traveler and Commercial Carrier

The Gateway Traveler Information System (GTIS) and its website, www.travelmidwest.com, have many new features to further meet the needs of both traffic center operations personnel and the traveling public. The GTIS provides for the traveler information needs of the Lake Michigan Interstate Gateway Alliance (LMIGA) four member states (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin).

PRISM-Based Automated Ramp Screening System

Kentucky has deployed a PRISM-Based Automated Ramp Screening System (PARSS) at its Boone County commercial vehicle enforcement facility on southbound I-71. This system automatically identifies commercial vehicles as they enter the weigh station utilizing a 915 MHz dedicated short range communication (DSRC) reader, an automated license plate reader (LPR), and an automated USDOT reader (USDOTR). This system has been identified as a “best practice” for commercial vehicle enforcement by the Federal Highway Administration and is one of very few systems in the United States that is able to automatically identify and screen commercial vehicles at the vehicle level. This system allows Kentucky State Police - Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (KSP-CVE) officers to be more efficient with their time and make more effective decisions on which vehicles to stop for inspection.

Lake County PASSAGE Email Notification

The Lake County Passage Program is one of the nation’s largest and most advanced arterial traffic management systems. From the start, the Passage program included many industry firsts and innovative solutions. The system includes automated congestion management, automated event management, and integration of several ITS elements, including: DMS, CCTV, arterial traffic signal system, Public Safety CAD, HAR, and public web site.
